Soda Island at golden hour, painted in VR

Virtual Animation

Hand-painted animation, made inside VR.

What it is

Every frame of our films is painted by hand inside virtual reality. Working in Quill, our artists draw three-dimensional strokes in the air around them, so a world is built the way a painting is: stroke by stroke, with the artist standing inside it.

The result is animation with a texture no 3D pipeline reproduces. It plays natively in a headset, where you can lean into the scene, and it renders just as well for YouTube, festival screens and broadcast.

What we deliver

  • Original animated series and short films for VR
  • Painted worlds for music, brands and festivals
  • Delivery for Meta Quest, Meta TV, YouTube and festival screens
  • Stereoscopic and flat renders from a single source

How it works

  1. 1

    Story and boards

Script, storyboards and concept art set the world before anyone paints.

  2. 2

    Paint in Quill

Environments, characters and props are painted in VR at real scale.

  3. 3

    Animate

Frame-by-frame animation inside the same tool, timed to sound.

  4. 4

    Render and deliver

Native VR playback, or rendered for flat screens and festivals.
